The pencil cases are being filled, new school shoes are waiting by the door and parents everywhere are wondering how six weeks disappeared quite so quickly. The summer holidays are almost over, which means schools throughout South East London will soon be opening their gates for the start of the autumn term.
September might mean a return to lessons, uniforms and alarm clocks, but it certainly doesn't mean the end of school events. In fact, the autumn term brings plenty of opportunities for schools and PTAs to get pupils, families and staff together, and 1st Bounce has a huge choice of entertainment available to help.
Start the New School Year with Some Energy
After weeks away from classmates, a beginning-of-term celebration can be a brilliant way to bring a school community back together. Inflatables also work well for pupil reward sessions, activity afternoons, PTA fundraisers and special days held during the first half of the autumn term.
For events where energetic competition is the order of the day, Assault Course and Inflatable Games give pupils something more interactive than simply standing around waiting for the next activity. The Rainbow Assault Course can get children racing from one end to the other, while the Penalty Shootout gives budding footballers an opportunity to prove exactly why they should be picked first at lunchtime.
Then there's the Bungee Run 35ft. Pair up two competitive pupils and it generally doesn't take long before the rest of the playground is cheering them on.
Autumn PTA Events with Plenty Going On
The new term also means PTA calendars begin filling again. Autumn fairs, fundraising afternoons and family events can all benefit from having several different activities available rather than concentrating everyone around one attraction.
Traditional Bouncy Castles can provide a colourful focal point for younger pupils, while Gladiator Duel introduces some friendly competition for those who fancy a challenge. Add Garden Games such as Giant Connect 4 and Giant Jenga, and you've got activities that parents and siblings can join in with too.
That mixture can be particularly useful at fundraising events because families naturally move between attractions rather than everyone forming one enormous queue.
What If September Doesn't Feel Very Summery?
We all know better than to make confident predictions about British autumn weather. September can produce glorious sunshine, sideways rain and occasionally both before lunch.
Fortunately, school events don't necessarily have to depend on the forecast. Many of our products can be used inside suitable school halls and indoor venues, subject to the available dimensions and ceiling clearance. If you're considering an indoor autumn event, tell us about your available space and we can help identify appropriate equipment.
For younger pupils, Soft Play can also work particularly well indoors. Products such as Soft Play with Surround create a dedicated activity space for nursery and reception-age children while older pupils enjoy larger attractions elsewhere.
Halloween, Half Term and the Rest of the Autumn Calendar
Once September settles down, Halloween suddenly isn't very far away. Then comes autumn half term, followed surprisingly quickly by the build-up to Christmas. Schools therefore have plenty of opportunities to use entertainment throughout the term rather than saving everything for next summer's sports day.
Discos, themed celebrations, reward afternoons and fundraising events can all be given an extra dimension with inflatable entertainment. Fun food can join the lineup too. Popcorn and Candy Floss options including the Popcorn Machine and Candy Floss Machine are particularly well suited to fairs and PTA events where organisers want that familiar funfair atmosphere.
School Event Hire Throughout Our Delivery Area
1st Bounce provides delivery, setup and collection for school and community events throughout Bromley, Lewisham, Beckenham, Dulwich, Orpington, Chislehurst, Biggin Hill, Catford and Sydenham, as well as surrounding locations within our delivery area.
Schools also have the reassurance of working with a company whose equipment is cleaned and safety checked, with delivery and installation handled for them. We understand that school bookings can involve additional practical considerations, from access arrangements and setup times to choosing equipment that works for the age groups attending.
Get the Autumn Term Dates into the Diary
Summer might be winding down, but the school event calendar certainly isn't. September welcomes everybody back, autumn brings fundraising and community events, and before long Halloween and Christmas celebrations are competing for space in the diary.
If your school or PTA already has an autumn event pencilled in, now is a good time to start choosing the entertainment. Get the date secured, pick the activities and leave the delivery and setup to us. The pupils have spent long enough sitting still over the summer holidays... or at least that's what we'll tell their teachers.
