08 July 2026 - The Heatwave Has Arrived – Here's How to Keep Summer Parties Cool

It finally feels like summer has remembered the UK exists. After weeks of wondering whether we'd skipped straight from spring to autumn, the sunshine has arrived in force and gardens, parks and outdoor venues are filling up with birthday parties, family celebrations and community events.

While everyone loves a warm summer's day, a heatwave brings its own challenges. Children somehow manage to have endless energy whatever the temperature, but a little planning goes a long way towards keeping everyone comfortable throughout the day.

Choose a Venue That Works for the Weather

One option that's becoming increasingly popular during very hot weather is moving the celebration indoors. Modern community halls, school halls and function rooms often stay considerably cooler than a sunny back garden, particularly those with good ventilation or air conditioning.

Many of our products work perfectly in suitable indoor venues, making it easy to enjoy all the fun without everyone spending the afternoon searching for the nearest patch of shade. If you've booked an outdoor party but decide an indoor venue would be a better option, simply let us know as soon as possible and, where practical, we'll happily deliver there instead.

Early Starts Can Make a Big Difference

Morning celebrations often avoid the hottest part of the day altogether. Younger children, in particular, tend to have just as much energy at 10am as they do after lunch, but the cooler temperatures make the whole event more comfortable for guests and parents alike.

If you're planning a birthday party during the current heatwave, it's worth considering whether an earlier start time might work better.

Take Advantage of Our Covered Inflatables

Many of our inflatables include built-in rain and sun covers. While they're often associated with Britain's famous summer showers, they also provide welcome shade during periods of strong sunshine.

The covered sections can help reduce direct sunlight while children are bouncing, making the inflatable a more comfortable place to play during warmer weather. It's another reason why many families choose our Bouncy Castles throughout the summer months.

Don't Forget the Refreshments

Keeping everyone hydrated becomes much more important when temperatures climb. Alongside plenty of drinking water, icy refreshments always prove popular at summer parties.

Our Slush Machine Hire is particularly busy during warm weather, with the Twin Tub Slush Machine helping guests cool down between activities. It's one of those additions that disappears surprisingly quickly once children discover it's available.

If you're looking for something a little more traditional, our Popcorn and Candy Floss machines continue to be favourites at family celebrations, school events and community fun days.

Create Natural Breaks Throughout the Party

Children will happily keep running around for as long as they're allowed, so building in quieter moments can help everyone enjoy the day more comfortably. Garden games, refreshments and shaded seating areas naturally encourage short breaks before everyone heads back for another bounce.

Products from our Garden Games range are perfect for this, offering relaxed entertainment that children and adults can enjoy together without spending the entire afternoon on the inflatable.

Perfect for Schools, Families and Community Events

Summer is one of our busiest times of year because schools are holding reward days, families are making the most of the holidays and communities are organising outdoor celebrations while the weather is on their side. Whether you're planning a birthday party, a school fun day, a church fête or a neighbourhood gathering, we can help you choose equipment that suits both your venue and the forecast.

Hot weather is fantastic for making memories, but comfort matters too. With indoor-friendly equipment, covered inflatables, refreshing party extras and a huge choice of entertainment, it's easy to enjoy everything summer has to offer without the heat becoming the main event. After all, the only thing that should be melting at your party is the ice in someone's slush drink.
